The Introduction to fencing session is provided for kids 7-13 y.o who have never fenced before. This beginning fencing program introduces participants to the sport of fencing and gives them the basic fundamentals needed to start fencing and develop basic skills. The class covers:
- Basic eye-hand-foot work
- Basic distance control
- Basic fencing
- Fencing with electrical weapon
- Introduction to fencing etiquette
- Safety rules and sportsmanship
Our reopening is timed to be in compliance with the current order from the SCC health authorities and is cleared by the Department of Public Safety.
All Introduction to Fencing classes are limited to 12 children only and they are not used any shared equipment.
Our safety protocols are stricter than the minimum required by the county. After all, you entrust us with the most precious thing in your life – your children! We take this responsibility with the same seriousness that we would want someone to take with our own kids.Registerfor Introduction to Fencing class
All fencing equipment is provided by AFM.
Youth classes (7 y.o. – 13 y.o.) run once a week at 2 separate schedules:
Adults must first schedule 6 to 8 private lessons before taking beginner group classes.
Introduction Program Cost
The cost of the Introduction level fencing program is $95 for 4 classes.
Per USA Fencing Association requirement, every fencer that registers for any fencing class must become a member of USA Fencing.

AFM is clear to reopen! In a limited and cautious capacity of course.
We wanted to be certain that we communicated this to all of our AFM members and their families – The Department of Public Safety has cleared our indoor facilities for group and private lessons.
As the health of our families is our utmost priority, we have been careful to follow the protocols set out by experts in our decision to reopen for in-person classes. It was a tough decision to reopen at all, but we determined that we could do it in a way that would not compromise the health of our fencers, their families, or our staff.
Please read AFM Safe Shield Protocol.
All Introduction classes are up to 12 kids and the group is not mixed with other kids for the entire duration of the program (4 weeks). Kids are not using any shared equipment and any gear they use is individually assigned to a child for the duration of the program and fully sanitized after each use as well.
