Best Fencing Clubs 2015 - 2016 Award by National Club Rankings!

This year has meant a lot to AFM – it’s been a season of growth and achievement for our fencers as we build on our success and push forward towards the future. And once again we’ve got some amazing news to share about our club, as again this year we’ve taken some amazing honors from the National Fencing Club Rankings (NFCR) organization.

For those of you who aren’t familiar, NFCR is an independent organization that looks at fencing clubs across the US and offers rankings based on performance and other factors. It’s not affiliated with any club or group, and so that means that they aren’t playing favorites at all with the lists that they put out. Why do they do this? To raise the profile of fencing and to help grow our sport.

The Rankings

This year we’re so proud to have improved even over last year’s amazing rankings! Here’s the breakdown of how we fared this year, and we want to be certain to point out that all of this is due to the incredible members of our club who step up and do the hard work that makes it all happen. Notice that we’ve been ranked #1 in some areas for the whole state of California! How incredible!

The Reasons

We just can’t keep on without reaching out to thank the three groups that make these kinds of accomplishments possible:

  • Our fencers
  • Our coaches
  • Our families

These rankings are YOUR rankings! They don’t belong to us, they truly belong to you! It’s your hard work and dedication that make thing possible. Thank you for everything that you do, and please know that you deserve these honors.

This week, specifically August 21st, marks three years since AFM opened its doors! It’s hard to believe that it’s been so long and also hard to believe that we’ve only been open for three years. That we’ve been able to reach these kinds of high levels in such a short amount of time truly speaks to the amazing coaching talent and the very precise, well thought out program and individualized approach that we use here at AFM. This kind of honor definitely speaks for itself.

While in epee our fencers are really constant top finishers in almost every competition, being it on local, regional or national level, our foil fencers are picking up the pace very fast and frequently take top placements in various competitions. We are happy and proud how both epee and foil programs are developing and how our fencers are growing and constantly improving and we are always here to support our fencers in their personal growth.

Thank you again to everyone who has been here for us and who has participated with us to reach this honor! It’s truly a pleasure and a privilege to be a part of such a great group of fencers, coaches and families. And thank you to the NFCR for working to take fencing to a higher level!

Share the news with your friends! It’s something to celebrate.

  1. If every club is on the *best club* list how do you know if your club is the best?

    • Igor Chirashnya

There are many categories for rankings to measure club’s performance. Overall these metrics give a very good view of how your club compared to other clubs in your state and nationwide in a specific category, which is a reflection of how strong the club in that area.
