The BayCup Fencing Tournament

The BayCup Fencing Tournament

We are so excited to announce that we will host seven Bay Cup fencing tournaments for the 2014-2015 season. It’s really important to us to be involved in the Bay Cup organization because it provides such a welcome service to our fencers and all fencers in the area. We consider it a community mission to grow the popularity and skill level of fencing in our area, so we want to serve our community by creating an exceptional atmosphere of both competition and fun.

Last year we hosted six competitions and got lots of positive feedback! We loved hearing the feedback that the tournaments were well organized and the facilities worked well for our visitors. Last year we had fencers from Los Angeles, Oregon, and Washington and this year we expect even more visitors.

We also expect to have AFM fencers participate in every category. How fun to fence on your home turf! (AFM fencers, remember that as a club member you don’t have to pay the event fees.)

The hosted competitions will include nine events that cover both foil and epee across a variety of age and gender groups. Last year we even set some Bay Cup records with one two-event tournament that had almost 100 participants and another event with 58 fencers! Let’s shoot for some more record-breaking events this year!

For those considering the trip (please join us!) the AFM facility is in Campbell, CA in the heart of Silicon Valley. We have designed our facilities to not only provide a great fencing environment, but also to be safe and family-friendly. Plus, we love our town! Campbell has a vibrant downtown featuring local restaurants, a variety of shops, and many historical landmarks. Also, it’s easy to get here! We’re close to three major highways (17, 85, 280).

If you want to start getting pumped for these competitions, you can view the final bouts from last year’s events by visiting our YouTube channel.

AFM will host the following seven tournaments, with the first having already completed this past weekend:

  • August 24, 2014: Y14 Men’s Foil
  • September 14, 2014: Y14 Women’s Foil and Cadet Women’s Foil
