We never do know where life will take us, but we do know that we have the power to make positive decisions and to live our passion. AFM is proud to be garnering the fruits of some hard work and love of sport this week.
Best Fencing Club Honor
I opened my email today and was surprised to find this lovely and completely unexpected message from National Fencing Club Rankings regarding an award which is being presented to Academy of Fencing Masters!
We’re proud to announce that AFM is being honored with the 2014-2015 “Best Fencing Clubs” award!
National Fencing Club Rankings (NFCR) is an independent organization that isn’t sponsored by any fencing club or affiliate organization. These rankings are based on the data that’s collected by NFCR and then compiled into their comprehensive lists. What’s perhaps most impressive is that these rankings are national in nature, that NFCR delves into all of the data for clubs across the U.S. and Canada in order to come up with a comprehensive list of where clubs stand.
In order to qualify as one of NFCR’s “Best Fencing Clubs,” a club must have at least one the Top 16 of a USA Fencing (USFA) National Domestic Point Tournament in a Youth, Cadet, Junior or Senior age division.
Academy of Fencing Masters had not just one but THREE rankings that qualified us for this amazing award!
· # 7 Cadet Women’s Epee Top 8 Medal Points 2014-2015
· # 10 Youth Men’s Epee Top 8 Medal Points 2014-2015
· #33 Youth Women’s Foil Top 16 Placement Points 2014-2015
This honor marks AFM as a top fencing school in North America, and is a tremendous accomplishment. While it’s a major honor for any club to receive, it is most especially so for a club that is only two years old!
Two Year Anniversary of AFM
August 21st marks the second anniversary of the opening of Academy of Fencing Masters! What an eventful and marvelous two years it’s been. What started out as the dream of a family has grown into the thriving community of fencers that we are now privileged to know. The last two years have seen a series of accomplishments that is truly amazing, and we could not be prouder of our club.
During these short two years, AFM has already made its mark on the national stage. It is quite difficult for a club to establish itself in the local and regional area, however thanks to the work of our coaches and students we have seen that national level success. We are so greatly indebted to their diligence.
Our decision to create this new kind of fencing club, one that nurtures not only the body but also the mind and which develops of a love of life through the art of fencing has truly come to be.
The fantastic accomplishment of being named one of the “Best Fencing Clubs” by NFCR is a wonderful recognition on this the week of our second anniversary!
AFM is blessed with hard working students, their incredible and supportive families and coaches who are passionate about fencing. We’d like to thank all of our students, parents, coaches and staff for being the means to this award and to the success that we have experienced. If these two years are any indication, AFM has a bright and beautiful future ahead! Thank you!
